Former Fat Duck and Aumbry chef, Mary-Ellen McTague, is launching a crowdfunding appeal to open a new restaurant, The Creameries, in Chorlton. After the disappointment of Sticky Walnut’s crowdfunded sister restaurant, Hispi, opening in Didsbury rather than Chorlton, social media has been buzzing with talk of this new outfit, set to open in the suburb if McTague is able to raise the final £20,000 needed to complete work on the premises, in March 2018. The menu will follow in the footsteps of Aumbry. Expect sustainable plates, house-baked breads, cheese (from Settle’s acclaimed Courtyard Dairy) local craft beers and wines. The location is a draw too: an Edwardian-era tiled former creamery, opposite King Bee records on Wilbraham Road. Other members of the launch team include baker, Sophie Yeoman (formerly of Longford Park Cafe), and designer Soo Wilkinson (The Lawn Club, Baratxuri, Alma de Cuba). The crowdfunding appeal kicks off on Monday (27 Nov) at 7am and supporters will be rewarded with a meal for two, a sourdough starter,  private hire of their conservatory space and a range of other options in return for investment.

Crowd funder is now live: www.indiegogo.com. Follow www.facebook.com and @hellocreameries for details.
