Easter is coming at us apace, and you might well be looking for things to do with the family. Here are five of the best things to do over the holiday…
Easter Egg Hunt at Dunham Massey
This sensory nature trail will let kids experience the garden of this charming National Trust property in a unique way. A perennial event, it’s returning for a longer run this year. It’s on throughout the holiday, including the four days of Easter weekend. Just pick up a map and a ticket, and make your way around the grounds at your leisure. Every child will get a Cadbury’s chocolate bunny at the end.

Outdoor adventure: Treetop Nets at Heaton Park
This outdoor adventure park lets both children and adults play up in the canopy of the trees. Without the need for a harness, visitors can play on giant trampolines, walkways, slides, and tunnels – all made from netting. See our recent review for more information.

Must-see exhibition: Robots at MoSI
It’s your last chance to see this acclaimed exhibition, which looks at the history of robotics – from the simple automata of past centuries to the high-tech androids of today. There is a collection of over 100 robots, including a 17th century dancing wine goblet, and Maria from the classic film Metropolis. The show is aimed at adults and children over seven.

Make something: ‘Shimmer and Shine’ stained glass workshop at John Rylands Library
Not to be confused with the Nick Jr show of the same name, this workshop is aimed at families with children 4 and above. It’s based around the Library’s stained glass windows, and will let visitors recreate a window of their own. It’s a free drop-in event, and there is no need to book.

Off the beaten track museum: Rochdale Pioneers
This museum is a celebration of the Co-Operative movement, which began in Rochdale. It features a recreation of the original Co-Op shop from the 19th century, and interactive entertainment activities for children and adults alike. There’s a special event where there will be a visit from the Easter Bunny and a craft-making session.
