Inglorious Laughters | Mon 16 Apr | Gullivers | 8pm | £2
Ignore the dubious pun and just go and have a guilt free time at ImproQuo’s new night of ‘non-standard comedy’. An open mic of sorts that will feature improv, sketch, character and all manner of alternative acts that might not make it through the first minute of a gong show but will more than pique the interest in their full form. ImproQuo are fast making a name for themselves as one of the best troupes in the city and they welcome a smorgasboard of oddballs for their first show at Gullivers.

Elf Lyons | Tue 17 Apr | The Bread Shed | 7.30pm | £5/3
Nominated last year for best show at the Edinburgh Fringe comedy awards Elf Lyons is an artist on the ascendancy so it makes sense that she would headline her first show in Manchester at the award winning night XS Malarkey. Known for her ‘sexualised word vomit’ and more recently her honing of the craft of clowning Elf Lyons is an inventive, bizarre and fearless comedian for a new generation that needs such voices.

Pamela DeMenthe | Sat 21 Apr | The Lowry | 8pm | £12/10
Spoofing the po-faced authors of such eroticised dross as 50 Shades of Grey, character comedian Pamela DeMenthe brings her new novel ‘Sticky Digits’ to The Lowry as part of her ‘book tour’ and a glimpse at how she creates such nonsense. Looking to do for erotic fiction what Garth Merenghi did for horror writers DeMenthe is a brilliantly realised creation in the mould of Alan Partridge.
