Prepare for ink-covered hands at the second Leeds Print Festival, which takes over the city’s independent Leeds Gallery for nine days this month to show off the best printed matter the city has to offer. Showcasing traditional and contemporary print processes through type and image, the festival kicks of with an opening night celebration, with experts on hand to help you make your own prints, and continues with a print fair filled with work by the region’s most talented printers to browse and buy (Sat 19), followed by talks from typographer, designer and letterpress practitioner Alan Kitching, illustrator Matthew The Horse and Bradford letterpress outfit The Print Project (Sun 20). A print exhibition, featuring the work of silkscreen designer Dan Mather, Marc Ross from Newcastle-based design collective Prefab 77, Edinburgh-based illustrator Robbie Porter, surface pattern designer and typography fan Sarah Milton and graphic designer Seb Koseda, runs alongside the events for the duration of the festival.
