This May see the first instalment of a new food festival, A Good Feed, come to Manchester’s Sadler’s Yard. The five-day-long event aims to showcase the best of Northern food culture, with events, talks, workshops and, of course, some top-notch scran. A collaboration between Stockport’s acclaimed fine-dining restaurant, Where The Light Gets In, Common and design studio PlantNOMA, the festival aims to get people talking about the food culture of the North, and draw attention to the positive impact the region’s lively food scene can have on the area. The biggest thing that’s happening is the ‘feeds’: basically, big meals around an open fire cooked by leading chefs over the course of the whole extra-long weekend. For £10 per person (book via the website’s ticket page here), you get to make the food with the chef, cook over an open fire, and then tuck in. Guest chefs include Lord Logs on Friday, Sam Buckley from WTLGI on Saturday, Honest Crust pizza (Sat), Mary-Ellen McTague from The Creameries (Monday) and a vegan feed with Matt Nutter of Stockport’s Allotment restaurant (Sun). Elsewhere, there’s restaurant quality street food from the likes of Umezushi and the Pasta Factory, as well as talks, advice and much more.
