Long-running club night Underachievers Please Try Harder kicks off this evening with two of Manchester’s finest proponents of melodic lo-fi fuzz-rock. Newcomers Temple Songs come laden with a fistful of rough-cut dream-pop gems and (rightful) comparisons to Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox. Older hands Milk Maid have grown from a solo vehicle for ex-bassist Nine Black Alps Martin Cohen to now their second full-band line-up. Expect new material from second album “Mostly No” with sunny pop hooks colliding with distortion and a grizzly DIY aesthetic. Mostly Yes we say.
