It’s been a crazy summer so far, first we’ve been able to have a long term relationship with that hot, ball of light and heat in the sky and now England are defying the odds by entering their first World Cup semi-final for the first time since 1990. Only six members of the current England squad were born when that happened last so it’s quite the feat. If you fancy watching the game against Croatia (kick off 7.30pm) with some right minded crowds, singing ‘Three Lions’ and Atomic Kitten parodies to your heart’s content then here are some of our top picks for your viewing pleasure.
1. Albert Hall
If football is your religion then where better to watch the game and say a prayer than in the old methodist church of Albert Hall. It’s free entry so make sure you get there early for what will prove to be a huge night no matter which way it swings.

2. Fairfield Social Club
The good folk at Grub have also had quite the summer since they moved back outside to the Mayfield Depot so it feels timely to show their winter home of Fairfield Social Club some love for the biggest sporting event of the year so far. Typically their bar will be stocked full of delicious craft beer and there’s even talk of getting some food traders in for the night. Expect a more laid back atmosphere than most but if the result goes the way we hope then all bets are off.

3. Common
The original hipster hide out has been fully embracing the fact that it is indeed coming home. Common have been showing all the games so far and the wide open windows and the Flensburger towers have been a big success in the Northern Quarter’s best place to watch a live match. Just don’t expect this kind of footy infiltration again when the Premier League season starts in August!
