Celebrating women’s suffrage: Still I Rise – Guided trail at Manchester Art Gallery

As Manchester marks 100 years since women gained the right to vote, The Travelling Heritage Bureau – a collective of female artists based in the North West – is hosting a very special pop-up event. For one day only in October, the group will be leading interactive trails around Manchester Art Gallery. Titled ‘Still I Rise’, the trails will feature stories of resistance, creativity, and hope, with echoes of women’s struggles across the world. The 40-minute jaunts will be full of sculpture, textiles, painting, music and poetry – with cultural influences from not just Britain, but from around the world. ‘Still I Rise’ is directed by actress Yusra Warsama, and produced by Community Arts North West and Digital Women’s Archive North, as part of Journeys Festival International. The event is free and suitable for all ages. Audiences can also attend outside of the trail times to guide themselves.
