Manchester Art Fair returns in October, welcoming visitors who are looking to buy contemporary art back to Manchester Central for another year. The event has become one of the largest and most prestigious art fairs in the UK, selling over £4.5m worth of art since its launch in 2008 – which is not to say that it’s an overbearing or stuffy affair. Instead, Manchester Art Fair has a uniquely approachable feel; for only £5 per ticket (£15 VIP Preview), visitors can browse over 120 curated stands featuring beautiful paintings, sculptures, photography and prints. Returning to the fair for 2019 are Manchester-based favourites Saul Hay Gallery, Contemporary Six and Artzu Gallery, as well as progressive work from the students at Manchester School of Art and a special collaboration from the Whitworth and multidisciplinary artist Bukky Baldwin. Taking place alongside The Manchester Contemporary, Manchester Art Fair is a real snapshot of what cutting-edge national and international artists are working on right now.
