Good things come to those who wait – that seemed to be the ethos when it came to Michelin stars and Manchester restaurants – however as of today, the wait is finally over as Ancoats restaurant Mana becomes the first City centre eatery to be awarded this coveted accolade. The Blossom Street fine-dinning spot – headed up by Chef Simon Martin, formerly of Copenhagen’s Noma – opened its doors in late 2018, with a menu that took inspiration from seasonal changes to serve up an award winning tasting menu that boasts dishes as varied as sea urchin chawanmushi and monkfish liver tarts. This long-awaited Michelin star win for Manchester marks the end of a 45 year wait following a win for The French back in 1974 – whilst also signalling an impressive future for the popular Ancoats restaurant, which has only been open for just over a year. Bookings can be made by visiting the Mana website – although we get a feeling they might be quite busy for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, you can read our Mana restaurant review here.
