All this gloomy November weather may not have you singing in the rain – but a trip to Cultureplex this weekend is bound to put a spring in your step. In celebration of the BFI’s new nationwide season showcasing the enduring longevity of the musical genre, Ducie Street’s multi-purpose creative hub will be bringing a selection of all-singing, all-dancing musical classics to their Mini-Cini screen throughout the weekend (Sat 02 – Sun 03 Nov). As if that wasn’t good enough – they’re giving Manchester Wire readers the chance to bag tickets at the concessionary price of £5 when booked online. The fun starts tomorrow with big screen revisits of The Who’s rock opera Tommy, rarely seen gems First a Girl and Singing Lovebirds – all topped off with an airing of the iconic Singin’ in the Rain starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds. Meanwhile, Sunday sees Cultureplex’s Mini Cini play host to the likes of Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra’s Guys and Dolls, 1954’s take on A Star is Born and the Shirley MacLaine and Sammy Davis Jr two-hander Sweet Charity. Plus, a Sunday visit may even earn you a little end of the week elegance with the venue’s regular string quartet brunch. To buy your exclusive £5 tickets to Cultureplex’s Musicals Mini Season, simply visit their booking page and select ‘Concession’ when booking your seats.
