If you’re feeling festive this week there’s some great comedy shows to get jolly at culminated in a surreal version of A Christmas Carol at The King’s Arms.
There aren’t many tickets left for this one so act fast if you don’t want to be disappointed before Crimbo. Antipodean funnyman John Robertson is possibly best known for his interactive video game for adults The Dark Room, and he’s just as inventive, terrifying and hilarious when unshackled and on stage as himself.
A veritable who’s who of Manchester’s alternative comedy scene have come together to create what will certainly be the most original take on Dicken’s classic tale of Christmasses past, present and future. Dougie takes the Ebeneezer role and is joined by Foxdog Studios, Jack Evans, Flim Nite’s Jack Nichols, Jain Edwards, Sean Morley and Lily Crossfield, with puppets created by Soft Mongoose, the man behind The Delightful Sausage’s Colonel Whippy. Running for two nights at The Kings Arms this is a pre-Christmas treat for fans of left-field comedy.

It’s the last XS Malarkey before their Christmas party and there celebrating with a cracking lineup of comedic talent. A real old guard of classic stand-up with Steve Gribbin headlining, helped by Neil Harris and exciting young comedian James Allen. Toby Hadoke will of course be on hand to spread as much festive cheer before he clocks off for Christmas.
