If there’s one thing to look forward to in the cold, post-Christmas month, it’s the wealth of deals as Manchester’s restaurants and bars try to tempt you back after a month of over consumption. With so many to choose from, we round up a selection of them with tasting menus, 2 for 1 offers, 50% offs and more.
Australasia’s sister restaurant is stepping up the deal game by giving a whole 50% off their menus. Like Australasia, there are some terms – Friday and Saturday only up until 4.30pm and not valid on the afternoon teas or Sunday roasts. Again you’ve got to book if you want to take advantage.
An easy to understand classic deal from the Northern Quarter pub. From Monday – Friday get 50% off all food. With classic pub staples on offer, it’s a good time to shake the January cold over fish and chips, sausage, mash and gravy, beyond meat burger and more. Booking recommended.
Just a few doors down is another spotting of the classic offer – half price food, Sunday to Thursday. Again booking is recommended if you want half price ribs, burgers, cheesy mash, and anything else from their American styled menu.
With two different sites, Crazy Pedro’s is spreading the January offers across both so whether you are in the Northern Quarter or closer to Bridge Street, you can enjoy £2 slices, or £10 for a full 15” at any time during their Happy Hour – which is actually four hours – from 5pm – 9pm Sunday-Friday. No booking required.
January is a great time for trying some of the fancier places in town, as they bring their prices down to get people through the doors sampling their fine dining. High-up restaurant 20 Stories is one that’s on the case, offering a special January set menu. With two courses for £18.50 or three for £23.50 diners can choose from mains including beef short rib, sea bream with smoked cauliflower or a celeriac and black garlic risotto. Offer is only available Mon-Fri between noon and 3pm and 5pm and 6.30pm and booking is essential.
Another offer from a restaurant in Spinningfields, as the newly moved Bill’s offers a couple of deals. Between noon – 5pm Monday to Friday, lunch can be had for £12.95 for two courses or £15.95 for three. Between 5pm-close Sunday – Thursday, diners can get the same number of courses for £17.50 and £20.50 respectively. They are also launching a new vegan menu to go alongside this so a perfect chance to try if less meat is your New Year’s resolution.
If you’ve not had a chance to try the new Mamucium restaurant at the bottom of Hotel Indigo near Victoria, then they are hoping to tempt you in with their 3-2-1 offer. That;’s 3 courses, 2 people, 1 glass of wine for £20 each. Available every night, with booking suggested, options include asparagus, broad bean, wild mushroom risotto or confit onion risotto, both with truffle oil and parmesan, and traditional battered fish and chips with mushy peas.
You might think with the number of games over Christmas a winter break would be on its way, but not a chance. If you want to be around town when no football is on Cafe Football is offering 50% off selected items to members throughout January, and 25% off their afternoon tea. Booking is essential – become a member here.
Taking full advantage of the year, Refuge are offering an introduction to their small plates with a £20 2020 deal. For £20 each, two people can get 6 Voltini (small plates), a carafe of wine, and their signature chocolate fondue dessert to share. The deal is available at the Principal Hotel restaurant from Monday 6 January until the end of the month on weekdays. As usual, book ahead, and check the times the deal is available.
A popular half price deal that we’d like even if the food wasn’t so good thanks to the name. Every weekday in January from Monday 6 January, you can get 50% off (or Schloss) the cook haus menu at Albert’s Schloss. Booking is essential.
Making tapas small plates seem even smaller, it’s a whole 50% off at La Bandera. Unlike others there is no exception so book ahead and get either half price or just twice as many dishes.
One of the Northern Quarter’s many pizza restaurants, but one of the few fully Italian owned ones, has a perfect lunch deal this January – £10 gets you a drink, starter and a pizza throughout the month.
If you’re looking for something a little indulgent to see off the winter blues, James Martin Manchester are offering a seasonal taster menu with free matching wines throughout January and February. From Monday to Friday, for just £30 per person, you can enjoy five carefully curated seasonal courses, each with a matching wine. The tasting menu includes a game sausage roll (served with brown sauce and paired with Prosecco), mackerel sashimi and pine roasted wood pigeon. There is an entirely vegetarian version of the taster menu too, featuring beetroot gnocchi, cheddar brûleé and a crispy Cackleberry hen’s egg.
Another tasty savings can be found at Deansgate’s Spanish restaurant Tapeo and Wine. From Sunday to Friday (before 5pm) throughout January, they’ll be offering visitors a 30% discount on their overall bill – allowing you to tuck into some tapas favourites like paella and croquetas alongside some delicious red wine without breaking the bank. Simply book in advance to indulge in this offer.

If you’ve never ventured into the glass triangle in Spinningfields, the Living Ventures lot are hoping to convince you to give their Asian fusion cooking a try with 30% off throughout January. There are some stipulations in place – on Friday and Saturday the deal is only on until 4.30pm and none of the too fancy stuff (wagyu beef, oysters, and the like) are available – but there’s still plenty to go at on their extensive menu. Booking essential.
