Aatma bring us a packed night of live music, DJs, art and poetry to ring in the New Year and also raise money for a local charities. Musicians The Starlight Magic Hour, bunny hoova, Mewn, The Early Mornings, Slow Knife and Chris Lyttle are all set to perform. As well as art exhibitions from the homeless to be confirmed. All proceeds from this event will be going to Manchester homeless charities – there will also be a drive to collect any unwanted items to donate to people in need.
The Culture Clash club night returns, this time to Band on the Wall. The night is a celebration of reggae and sound system culture and you’ll be able to catch acts such as veteran soundman Sir Coxson Outernational, legendary Aba Shanti-I and Manchester’s own Nucleus Roots take the stage.
80’s goth icons Skeletal Family come to Manchester this New Year. Bringing their dark and broody sound to Night People, the band are set to play with a line-up including original members/songwriters Stan Greenwood and Roger ‘Trotwood’ Nowell. Support comes from Gothzilla, plus local acts Weimar and The Junta!
To celebrate the release of his debut EP Circle of 5. Jay Dunn puts on a night at The Castle Hotel this week. The local acoustic artist will be performing with his full band for the first time – plus they’re be support from Manchester indie band Fragile Audio and multi-instrumentalist Cobain Jones.
Band on the Wall presents a Sunday night special with ‘Free Jazz’ – a free-entry event showcasing some of the most exciting artists around playing everything from jazz, electronic, funk, soul, hip-hop and experimental sounds. On the bill we have Manchester-based funk and soul 6-piece Miasma, The Ciaputa Trio, young multi-instrumentalist Ed Allen, plus duo Mark Hanslip and Adam Fairhall combine sax and piano for an intriguing musical conversation.
