Unsurprisingly, it’s a fairly quiet week for food and drink news as uncertainty abounds everywhere, including around the hospitality industry. There’s news of a couple of wine fairs that are currently still going ahead, and of a cancellation of the North’s largest trade event. Let’s take a look…
One of the larger cancellations sees the trade industry event Northern Restaurant & Bar unsurprisingly pull the event scheduled to open today (Tuesday 17 March) at Manchester Central. The biggest event in the North’s hospitality calendar has not announced a future date but have maintained that a rescheduled date for the 20th edition of the event will be announced in due course.
Looking ahead to Christmas may seem a bit premature, but it’s maybe a safer bet to purchase tickets for November events and with this in mind, Three Wine Men returns later this year to help expand your Christmas wine list. The annual tour sees Olly Smith, Oz Clarke, and Tim Atkin (The Three Wine Men in question) bring a huge wine fair to Manchester on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2020. Earlybird tickets are on sale now, and this event is usually snapped up pretty sharpish.

Next Thursday sees the newly opened Picturedome host a special tasting from Reserve Wines. The brand new Macclesfield food hall, from the people behind Altrincham Market and Mackie Mayor, will welcome South African producer Iona Wines as they give a tour of their wines. For £15 plus booking fee, guests will get to sample three reds and three whites, all made using sustainable methods and with everything from grape growing to distribution done in-house. All wines will be available to purchase with a 10% discount for attendees.
