Pop-up cinema company The Village Screen specialise in showing cult films in quirky locations – like the city’s own picturesque venue Victoria Baths. But for the duration of the lockdown, they are instead hosting online watch-alongs that can be enjoyed from home. The next, coming this Sunday evening (26 April), is of the critically acclaimed high school comedy Booksmart (2019). The directorial debut of Olivia Wilde, it has been likened to Ghost World and an all-female Superbad. It’s free to stream on Amazon Prime, which you can get a free trial of, if you’re not already a member. However if you’re averse to Mr Bezos you can rent it from Apple TV, Google Play or YouTube. From 7pm on the Village Screen Facebook page, there will be entertainment to help get you in the mood. You’ll find cooking demos from artisan food companies, cocktail recipes and even a live DJ set. You should start the movie at 8pm and share your viewing experience on the Facebook/Instagram page comments section. Enjoy!
