Manchester International Festival continues its amazing MIF Live content this week. In the next edition of Festival In My House.. and Yours, you can join dancer-choreographer Yandass Ndlovu and collaborator Sam Arbor for a celebration of homegrown Manchester dance culture – WOZA! is a dance journey that’ll take you across the city’s music scene. Streamed live from a house in Hyde, you can catch this Wednesday evening at 7:30pm on the MIF official Youtube channel.
On Friday evening, there’s a chance to watch the incredible FKA Twigs Soundtrack 7 from MIF15 as part of the Rewind instalments. The complete performance followed by a live in-conversation with FKA Twigs and Hans Ulrich Obrist will be shown at 7:30pm Friday 15 May. This will be available to view for only 24 hours on the Youtube channel so don’t miss out.
It’s looking like we’re facing a summer without festivals – and that sucks – but here’s where Five4FiveFest comes in. An online ‘stay at home’ music festival with an impressive line-up of bands all while fundraising for NHS Charities Together. Across Friday and Saturday, there will be five bands performing each day – headliners are none other than Don Broco and Enter Shikari. In association with Vans and Signature Brew, there will be prizes to be won and even merch available soon. You can catch this over on the Five4Five Fest Facebook page. See below for the bands involved..
Friday 15 May – Don Broco, Deaf Havana, Hot Milk, Stay Free, Lizzy Farrell.
Sat 16 May – Enter Shikari, As It Is, Fatherson, The Dangerous Summer, Tigres.
Set times are still to be announced for this so make sure you keep a look out for those on the festival’s social media in the next few days – on Twitter, Instagram and on their website.
For their final Live-ish streamed performance, Northern Quarter faves Band on the Wall will be airing a pre-recorded set from Senegalese kora maestro Diabel Cissokho. An expert of the harp-like kora, Cissokho’s resonant voice and high spirited sound has been featured at many mainstream festivals and venues, from Glastonbury to the Barbican. Friday’s performance was captured during Band on the Wall’s 2012 We Face Forward festival which celebrated African art and music. Be sure to tune to watch this one live – as it won’t be available on-demand afterwards.
Independent online music mag The Line of Best Fit hosts a daily broadcast over on their Instagram – Off The Road goes live with an artist at 6.30pm every evening. Past musicians involved have included Harrison Whitford, Squirrel Flower and Hannah Jane Lewis. This week you can catch sets and chats with the weird yet wonderful Alien Tango on Monday 11 May and Liverpool’s Pizzagirl Tuesday 12 May.
