Dana Margolin of the Brighton indie rock band Porridge Radio will be appearing on Seattle-based station KEXP this Tuesday 7 July. Sharing an exclusive set recorded at home, plus joining Cheryl Waters for a chat live – you can view this by heading to the official KEXP Youtube channel here from 11pm.
Manchester band The Slow Readers Club have something special lined up for us this Friday 10 July. The lads, who released their latest album The Joy of the Return in March – will be streaming a full live gig from The Met Bury from 8pm for you to view from the comfort of your own home. You can buy a ticket for £7 by heading to their website which will then give you access to the livestream on Friday evening.
Junction 2 presents J2v Virtual Festival this weekend. The yearly London techno festival was among many events to be cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, organisers have pulled together a virtual experience where a tonne of artists and DJs will be streaming exclusive sets across 4 music stages: The Console, The Vault, The Hex and The Mainframe – on Saturday 11 July from 6pm. The line-up features Nina Kraviz, Adam Beyer, Effy and DJ Holographic amongst others. From 6pm on Sunday 12 July in association with Vice you’ll find The Speakers Corner – a time dedicated to discussion, education, and inspiration – as a panel of speakers from the industry reflect on issues integral to the club scene including Black culture and diversity
There will be prize giveaways and merch available. Viewing will be free – but there will be an option to donate with money going towards charities close to Junction2’s heart – Black Lives Matter, Care Workers Charity, Refuge, The Outside Project, and Trussell Trust Foodbanks. Finsperry 2020 takes place on Satuday 11 July. Organised by fans of The 1975 (yet not affiliated with the band), the online festival will feature an impressive line-up of artists across 3 virtual stages; on The Frontline Stage you’ll find Beabadoobee, Ten Tonnes, Alfie Templeman, Bloxx and Girli. The Key Stage will host Oscar Lang, The Covasettes and Deco. And on The 23:15 Stage you’ll find Corella, Rory Wynne, Lyerr plus loads more. To gain access to the livestream, the purchase of a virtual ticket or physical wristband (costing £2.50) is required which you can find by heading here. You will then receive a password to access the livestreams on the website. 100% of all profits raised will be going to NHS charities. There’ll be raffle tickets available and prizes. Another festival unfortunately cancelled, Glasgow’s TRNSMT was due to go ahead this weekend. Instead, BBC Scotland has pulled together some treats from the archive. On Saturday 11 July from 9pm, tune into BBC Scotland with Edith Bowman to relive some of the most iconic performances of the last three years – including those from Radiohead, Kasabian and Biffy Clyro. Sucker Music kick things off with a week-long online music industry festival. From Monday 6 July all the way through to Sunday 12 you can find live streamed sets from a variety of artists including Girli, Lona, RAE, plus a DJ set from Just Jack. Tuesday 7 July will feature Manchester artists in particular, with local talents Lucy Deakin and Narrow Margin performing. You can tune into the Facebook Stage by heading to the official Sucker profile here from midday every single day. From Friday onwards there will also be interviews and talks from those in the industry including Manchester’s Rich Goodwin (Scruff of the Neck) and Rebecca Mason (One Great Song/Sonic PR) over on the Instagram Stage which you can find here.
