Radical Sounds: Working Class Movement Library host free online music and protest night featuring Maxine Peake

The Working Class Movement Library is yet to reopen to the public – but until it does, the staff are doing things digitally. This Bank Holiday Monday they are hosting their very first online music and spoken word event. Called Radical Sounds, it will stream on Facebook and the WCML website. The evening is curated by none other than Maxine Peake, who will give a reading and even perform with the electronica duo Eccentronic Research Council. Other DJs and bands appearing include International Teachers of Pop, Goat Girl, and Lone Taxidermist. Several well-known actors from the local area will read protest pieces, including works by the philosopher Emil Cioran and the dramatist Bertolt Brecht. Also, Christopher Eccleston will be saying ‘a few words for Boris Johnson’. Doubtless he will be hugely positive and full of encouragement.
