FREE screenings of Duck Soup + The Big Lebowski at Kalhua Coffee House

Pop-up coffee house, Kahlua, is hosting a number of free film screenings in April. Every Thursday, one can enjoy a cult classic on the big screen with a cocktail in hand. One screening has already taken place, but not to worry, because there is two more to come. Tomorrow, (Thu 11 Apr) Duck Soup plays. Regarded as the Marx brothers’ best work, Duck Soup is a riotous comedy about politics and warmongering. Upon its release in 1933, critics slated the film for its subversive content, but Duck Soup has stood the test of time, and become a golden oldie. Packed with gags, zany one-liners, and physical comedy including the infamous mirror scene, Duck Soup is not one to miss. Next week (Thu 18 Apr), the Coen brothers’ The Big Lebowski plays. The Dude (Jeff Bridges), is a chilled out guy, who enjoys the simple pleasures in life – bowling, white russians and his Persian rug. When his favourite rug is urinated on by intruders, in a case of mistaken identity, The Dude gets active. A sinuous plot with fantastic dialogue and characters, The Big Lebowski is a favourite with good reason.
