As the lockdown restriction ease we can hopefully look forward to laughing with friends again. Manchester is a city famed for its sense of humour, so it’s good to know that stand-up comedy will be returning as soon as it’s safe to do so. We’ve found a clutch of exciting gigs for you to get your laughing gear ready for.
Nodding Dog Comedy has its first evening of outdoor comedy at one of the city’s favourite breweries in ABC, with a cracking line-up of stand-up. Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated comedian Chris Washington headlines with his amiable style, while gagsmith Tony Cowards and storyteller Jonny Pelham are also on the bill. Newcomer Natalie Husdan claims the ‘one to watch’ spot after winning Didsbury Comedy Festival’s New Act competition in 2020.
There’s no word yet on what will become of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, but an August celebration of comedy is set to take place in 2021 with the Macclesfield Comedy Festival. Taking place for a full day of big laughs on Saturday 7 August the festival will feature the likes of Hal Cruttenden, Glenn Wool, Matt Stellingwerf and Shazia Mirza. Well worth a trip out to Macclesfield.

Levenshulme hosts a two day festival of comedy and cabaret in the grounds of the Klondyke Club that’s sure to cheer folk up at the end of May. The likes of Daliso Chiponda, Luisa Omielan and Allyson June Smith will be there to entertain in the evenings while there’s more family friendly fare courtesy of Jonny Awsum and Ada Campe in the afternoon of the Saturday. With day and weekend tickets available, it’s more than worth planning your trip now.
