Manchester Collective present part-exhibition, part-installation Dark Days, Luminous Nights this June. Running from Thursday 3 June to Thursday 10 June at Salford’s The White Hotel – the event is inspired by a journey along a ruined waterway. This tapestry of music, film, dance and photography features the work of artists Simon Buckley and Blackhaine, alongside a dramatic score by Béla Bartók, Edmund Finnis, and Wojciech Kilar.
An immersive audio-visual experience, the piece is a comment on Manchester and Salford in these uncertain times of the pandemic, using the themes of regeneration, displacement and isolation whilst also finding personality and beauty in the places often overlooked. In addition, Dark Days, Luminous Nights also places focus on the people who live, work and create here.
“It’s about our journey as individuals – as musicians, producers, directors, photographers,” says Rakhi Singh, co-founder and Music Director of Manchester Collective. “We are all part of these bricks and mortar, and it is our story to tell.”
Viewing slots are ticketed and on the hour (running between 1.30pm-10.30pm on weekdays, and 10.30am–10.30pm on the weekend), with limited capacity and social distancing measures in place.
