It’s been a whole seven days since indoor hospitality reopened and good vibes and even better food have been the only thing infecting us Mancs. In a city that never sleeps, the kitchen never stops cooking – and the munchies coming out of Manny this week have been on a whole other level. Here’s a round-up of the food spots at the top of our to-visit list.
Never before have we been so desperate to get our hands on a hoagie. Inspired by the traditional Neapolitan street food cuzzetiello, Mira’s sandwiches send you on a trip to the streets of Napoli – maybe with more cheese though.
12-hour slowcooked meatballs, a delectably rich homemade ragu sauce, fior di latte, fresh basil, served inside a loaf from Thatchers Bakery; this is The Balls (no, literally, that’s what the sandwich is called).
Honestly? The vegan option might even be better. We’re talking homemade cashew-based cheese, people. Currently available to collect from Crown and Kettle on Sundays. Get more information by following the button below.

From foodie and photo-genius, Marwan Mounti, comes FryBy – a pop-up completely dedicated to deep fried tatties. But this is no regular chippy, and these fries come with no regular toppings. Fryby are serving up generous portions of hand cut and home fried chips, perfectly seasoned and perfectly fried, loaded with your choice of artisan sauces and toppings.
Forget your gravy and curry sauce, think spicy mayo, marinara sauce and prawns – not together of course. Take our word for it – these fries are so to die for, you’ll be licking the cone afterwards. Opening in Cornerboy this week!

MediaCity is rapidly becoming a hub for fab food and b-e-a-utiful beers, so there’s no wonder why angels of ale Seven Bro7hers have launched their latest site there. Sandwiched between The Botanist and Pret-a-Manger, the new beerhouse offers a relaxed energy with brilliant booze, making this the perfect place for some after-work pints.
They have some tasty bites too. Pretty much everything you would expect to be paired with a beer – burgers, kebabs, nachos, wings and wedges – with some quite frankly excellent vegan substitutes. The best part? You can even taste test the beer before you buy it. No-one’s getting ripped off at this joint.

After much anticipation, it has finally arrived. The Blues Kitchen has opened its doors, offering every guest an incomparable experience. Filling in the spot of Walkabout bar on Quay Street, Blues Kitchen is serving up some of the best flavours from South America from one of the most beautiful interiors in the city. Star choices included soy-glazed Szechuan baby back ribs, shrimp taco salad, and a drool-worthy beef brisket roll topped with swiss cheese, mustard mayo and bacon gravy. We don’t know what bacon gravy is, we just know that we want it.
The drinks menu is equally exciting, with specially selected spirits and £5 cocktails every Wednesday. What’s more, this unbelievably eclectic space will serve as a venue too, with gigs and DJs sets running on until as late as 3am. Don’t be daft, book your slot.

Born out of a love of pies, and a lack of vegan pastry, comes The Vegan Picnic Basket – the plant-based answer to picnic snacks. Tuck into vegan pork pies (The Pork Lie), a selection of traditional tarts, and even a totally vegan scotch egg (The Scotch Eh-gg).
Obviously, we all know what Manchester’s weather is like, and picnics in our city usually end up with a soggy bum. But whether you’re braving the sodden grass outside, or throwing your own carpet picnic in your living room, these goodies are guaranteed to go down a treat.
