District – the latest concept from the brains behind Tokyo Ramen – is transforming the way Manchester eats Thai food. Determined for city chompers to get a taste of real Bangkok street food, District will be dishing up BBQ-fired bites with a futuristic twist.
Setting up shop in the Northern Quarter’s Oldham Street, this new venue hopes to deliver a progressive approach to Thai Food, and a completely new way of dining. With a small yet fully equipped bar – which uses exactly the same ingredients as the kitchen – District provides a refreshing evening destination where visitors are encouraged to spend their entire night.
Guests are offered two eating experiences to choose from. The first, priced at £40, is called ‘My First Crush’; this unique menu includes dishes like barbecued hogget belly (a kind of lamb) with nam prik pao, and raw wild bass with nam jim (a dipping sauce that pairs perfectly with seafood).
‘The Full Experience’ goes for £85, and offers even more peculiar dishes to tickle your tastebuds. Better yet, they have a dedicated dessert menu called ‘It was Only A Dream’, which showcases District’s take on the classic Thai dessert: Mango with sticky rice.
Utilising the skill of modern barbecue cookery, District offers a completely unique dining experience which is yet to be seen in Manchester. Immerse yourselves in the warming smells of roasted charcoal and their traditional-yet-futuristic aesthetic – a staple of Bangkok culture Opening on Thursday 27 May, the new Thai kitchen and bar will be serving the public every Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm.
