National Football Museum returns with new Hall of Fame Exhibition & City of Manchester residents go free!

The National Football Museum recently reopened its doors, kicking post-lockdown life off with a major new exhibition – The English Football Hall of Fame.

This new exhibition will focus on 50 of the game’s most inspirational figures – where football fans can unearth the  origins of the sport and see images of iconic stars like Tom Finney, John Barnes, Lily Parr, Hope Powell, Kenny Dalglish, Alex Scott, Gary Lineker and Alex Ferguson.

The English Football Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of those who have made an outstanding contribution to the game – and will display never before seen features including Manchester City legend Colin Bell’s MBE, England captain Billy Wright’s collection of gramophone records and Sir Stanley Matthews’ Stoke City shirt worn in his testimonial match in 1965.

Tim Desmond, Chief Executive of the National Football Museum said: “We are delighted to be able to reopen the museum on Thursday 27 May with our rebalanced Hall of Fame equally celebrating both men and women.”

Visitors can get back in the game for summer and explore a star-studded line-up of new objects and exhibitions for the National Football Museum’s 20th Anniversary – where City of Manchester residents can visit for free. The Museum is initially open for visitors from Thursday to Sunday – with new and improved access to both a BSL video guide and a visual story helping visitors familiarise themselves before their visit.
