Famous for its diverse street food offerings and indie shopping pop-ups, London’s much-loved Boxpark is eyeing up a spot in the Capital of the North.
Starting out in Shoreditch in 2011, Boxpark’s founders transformed a cluster of shipping containers into a pop-up mall, bringing together local independent traders of food, fashion, and so much more. Since then, the story of Boxpark has been reiterated across the globe as the first of its kind, with even Oxford Road’s Hatch taking inspiration.
After two additional sites in London, for the first time ever Boxpark is looking to expand out of the country’s capital. According to Allied, the heads behind the huge redevelopment of Manchester’s St John’s district, eyes have been set on the 30,000 sq ft venue Albert Shed, located on the corner of Water Street and New Quay Street.
The new venue hopes to champion local creators and offer a diverse hub for the local community to prosper and “Eat. Drink. Play.” Boxpark Manchester is due to open by June 2022, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
