Manchester brewery Cloudwater has announced that it will be taking over popular neighbourhood pub The Pilcrow, transforming it into Sadler’s Cat – a community-focused pub stocking locally sourced beers, natural wines and a food menu that aims to be at least 50% plant-based.
It was only a few weeks ago that we received word that Common & Co would not be renewing their lease at this cosy Hanover Street bar in the rapidly developing NOMA area of town. However following an extensive refurbishment project – which included the installation of a new ventilation system to ensure customer safety and comfort – Cloudwater aim to reopen the doors of this much-loved space as Sadler’s Cat on Friday 30 July.
Promising a contemporary feel, Sadler’s Cat will have space for approximately 200 covers, both inside the venue itself and in its outside terrace which spills out onto Sadler’s Yard. Later in the year, their team plan to start construction on a large glazed structure which will provide outdoor shelter on those rainy Manchester afternoons and will eventually be repurposed into a community growing project in keeping with the area’s sustainable ethos.
When it comes to food, John Wallace of popular street-food faves Wallace and Sons will be whipping up a menu with a heavy focus on bao buns and vegetarian dishes. Meanwhile, the drinks menu will feature a number of Cloudwater brews alongside pints from a range of Manchester’s most-loved brewers, mixers and natural wines.
