I’m sure we can all agree that the past 18 months or so has left a rather bitter taste in our mouths. But it’s time to get ready for a whole new array of flavours, as Tine restaurant takes over the kitchen at KAMPUS.
Championed for their use of ferments and fresh produce, Tine comes from chefs Joshua Shanahan and James Lord – both well established in the Manchester hospitality scene. Shanahan worked as senior sous chef at Stockport’s critically acclaimed Where The Light Gets In, as well as Michelin star establishment Mana. Lord, on the other hand, worked as senior sous at Manchester House, before opening late night party bar Wolf At The Door (£1 tacos – yes please).
The pair originally opened Tine as a guest spot kitchen at Blossom Street Social in Ancoats, but after the lockdown wave hit, the two chefs found themselves in deep water.
Now, Tine restaurant has a whole new space and a whole new kitchen, with a heavy focus on intense flavour and the freshest local produce they can get their hands on. This means, the menu is everchanging, much like Manchester itself.
Their opening night saw a phenomenal menu, with dishes including a fresh ikejime Sea Bass served with a smoked egg yolk, Mutton loin and pumpkin seed stew, Guinness-glazed Tamworth duck, and a green strawberry and walnut parfait served with a frozen Eccles cake. What a line up, right?
And with natty wine bar Le Social wines by their side – the drinks menu is certified perfection. Constructed in the same way as their food – utilising only seasonal local produce available to them on the day – Tine’s drinks menu is 100% sustainably sourced, with their wine list also boating a range of ethically-produced bottles.
Tine will be taking over the KAMPUS kitchen until the end of September, Thursdays to Sundays, located close to Manchester Piccadilly. And they take reservations too. So if you’re looking for the ideal secluded date night destination: this is the place.
