If Manchester’s Museums At Night programme can’t tempt you, make the trip to Liverpool, as the city opens its own museum and gallery doors late for LightNight festival. The annual fiesta offers over 100 events in one night, featuring dazzling light projections, street theatre, free musical buses, walks and exclusive exhibition previews. Riffing on ideas of memory and identity, this year’s programme involves large-scale light projections by Andy McKeown, stained glass fragments reflected into The Oratory (pictured) and an audiovisual performance by artists Sam Wiehl, Rob Strachan and Alex Spiers, in collaboration with Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia. Other highlights include the launch of LOOK/13 photography festival and the official reopening of Central Library complete with large scale light show, making for one of the biggest programmes to date.
