Castlefield Gallery is on the hunt for eight local creatives ahead of the Art Assembly, a one-day festival taking place in Manchester city centre next year.

Successful applicants will be asked to create co-commissions in collaboration with educational groups in which they will be embedded for the event, which takes place on 18 Jun 2022.

Each of the eight artists/artist collectives will receive a fee of £2,500. A production budget will also be available for each co-commission.

These pieces will sit at the heart of the programme, acting as a “golden thread running through the one-day event”, intending to provoke discussion, thinking, and spark ideas that might empower all to be able to engage in the Art Assembly podcast debate.

Whilst the co-commissions will be informed and led by the learning groups and artists working together, they’ll also engage with and explore some of the key issues of our time, from global to local concerns. This could span key discussion topics like climate change, justice, movement & migration, happiness, health & wellbeing, care & community, identity, body image and body positivity.

The deadline for applications is 12pm, Tue 30 Nov.
