Mrs. Doubtfire the musical to make UK debut in Manchester

Robin Williams’ iconic character Mrs. Doubtfire has been reimagined for the stage, and the show will be making its UK debut right here in Manchester.

Written by Wayne Kirkpatrick, Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, helmed by legendary, Tony Award-winning director Jerry Zaks, the comedy musical will arrive at Manchester Opera House on Fri 2 Sep 2022, going on a strictly limited season run until Sat 1 Oct.

The performance follows the familiar big-screen storyline.  After losing custody of his children in a messy divorce, out-of-work actor Daniel creates the ​alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay in their lives. As his new character takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about how to be a father.

The show is currently performing at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on Broadway, having started with a spectacular run at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre in 2019. Extended by popular demand, the Seattle performances shattered the record for the bestselling new musical in the history of The 5th Avenue Theatre, selling over $4.7M worth of tickets and playing to more than 75,000 people in just 42 performances.
