Manchester’s comedy scene welcomes the best and brightest from across the UK this week, with tour shows from John-Luke Roberts and Jack Barry, plus a headline set from Olga Koch at XS Malarkey
There’s more stand-up at The Bread Shed this week, as the very next night computer scientist and comedian Olga Koch heads back to Manchester to headline a stellar bill at XS Malarkey.
Olga will be joined by Sian Davies, Eryn Tett, Karl Porter and host Toby Hadoke for yet more proof of XS’s standing as one of the best comedy clubs in the country. All for less than a fiver (if you’re a member) they really are spoiling us at the moment.
Possibly best known as lovelorn best friend of Mae Martin in their sitcom ‘Feel Good’, comedian Jack Barry will be returning to where the bulk of the stand-up section of that show was set, under the roof of the Frog and Bucket.
New show Alien promises to give audience members a friendly slap in the face with a lot of jokes and anyone who’s seen Barry’s playful style in the past will know that slap is meant with great love. Always a joy.

John-Luke Roberts makes comedy like nobody else, and if you’ve ever seen him live you probably know exactly what we mean by that.
The full title to his hit Edinburgh shows from 2019 is ‘After Me Comes the Flood (But in French) drip splosh splash drip BLUBBP BLUBBP BLUBBPBLUBBPBLUBBP!!’ which may give you a further indication of whether or not you want to take a punt on this absurdist comic genius/troublemaker.
We would urge you to very much chance it as JLR is very different from everyone else and in an increasingly homogeneous comedy landscape that is always something to be seen.
