An entire season dedicated to renowned UK screenwriter Nigel Kneale is showing at HOME until next week.
Marking the century of his birth, the programme will celebrate Kneale’s legacy as a master of British sci-fi throughout the 50s and 60s, most notably with his Quatermass series for BBC, and his Nineteen Eighty-Four adaptation in 1954.
Kneale also collaborated with Hammer Films on iconic flicks like The Witches and the cinematic version of his BBC show, Quatermass and the Pit—and a number of modern filmmakers, including the likes of Ben Wheatley and Edgar Wright, still credit his influence on their work.
‘Nigel Kneale: Into the Unknown’ will run at HOME until Tue 25 Jan, featuring screenings of his most recognised work along with a special in-conversation event on Sun 9 Jan with Mancunian stand-up comedian, Toby Hadoke and Kneale biographer, season co-programmer and journalist, Andy Murray.
