In another week of excellent stand-up which reinforces Manchester’s reputation as a hotbed of comic talent, Daliso Chaponda will be performing to an intimate audience in Chorlton, while Glenn Moore and John Luke Roberts trot out their new shows at XS Malarkey and Alison Spittle joins The Jain Edwards Show.
XS Malarkey continue their excellent run of Edinburgh Fringe previews with another terrific double bill featuring two quite contrasting comics in Glenn Moore and John Luke Roberts. Whilst the former tends to deliver straight stand-up with the air and considerable talent of a man who’s been at it for decades longer than the cherubic Moore, the latter continually subverts the art of comedy, searching for the hilarity in anything he can find. Something for everyone then.
Alison Spittle is the latest stand-up to step into the wild world of The Jain Edwards Show. The Irish comic who’s hilarious confessional style has won her plaudits and a podcast with BBC Sounds titled ‘The Wheel of Misfortune’ is perfectly placed to join Jain and her cohorts to help create the most original comedy night in the city.

The first ever comedian to reach the final of Britain’s Got Talent, Daliso Chaponda will be swapping out such huge stages for an intimate show at The Font in Chorlton for Tony Vino’s Just Fair Laughs. A joyous comedian whether performing to tens or thousands this is a must-attend gig if you’re in the area. Especially since Eddy Brimson will also be on the bill.
