Three very different approaches to comedy shows feature in this week’s picks, including North East panel show Gag Reels, a double preview with some of Australia’s finest in Laura Davis and Alice Fraser, and an audience with Tez Ilyas who’ll be chatting about his new book amongst other things with Eshaan Akbar.
As part of Manchester Animation Festival, North East comedians Matt Reed and Hal Branson will be bringing their popular panel show back to Manchester to pit two teams against each other in an animation special. For this particular show the panelists pitting their wits against an onslaught of filmic facts will be comedians, animators and podcasters Lauren Stone, Seeta Wrightson, Sam Summers and Sam O’Leary.
An altogether different kind of comedy night comes to The Lowry this weekend as comedian Tez Ilyas is joined by fellow stand-up Eshaan Akbar for an evening of chat, comedy and a copy of Tez’s new book. The star of The Tez O’Clock Show and Man Like Mobeen is celebrating the release of the paperback edition of his book The Secret Diary of a British Muslim Aged 13 3/4 by giving away copies at this special event which will feature stand-up from Tez and Eshaan, a laid back Q&A between the pair and a meet and greet afterwards.

A double bill of previews from two of Australia’s finest comics grace The Bread Shed for XS Malarkey this week. Laura Davis should have hers in good check as she’s fresh off the back of a Melbourne Comedy Festival run with If This Is It which gained a nomination for Most Outstanding Show. Alice Fraser (The News Quiz, The Bugle) will be bringing her new show Chronos to Manchester too as she attempts to turn time inside out and back to front before confronting the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
