Combining orchestral music and high-definition film, this upcoming concert at the Bridgewater Hall will treat both eyes and ears. Featuring Duncan Copp’s award-winning films The Earth (its European premiere) and The Planets on giant screens, the visuals for the evening incorporate footage from NASA’s exploration of the solar system, while the musical programme – performed by the LPO – includes The Planets by Holst (naturally) and Strauss’ tone poem Also sprach Zarathustra (aka. the opening to 2001: A Space Odyssey). With John Adams’ excellent Short Ride in a Fast Machine rounding off the audio accompaniment, plus Huddersfield Choral Society also on hand, this promises to be a true audio-visual bombardment of the senses. Gallery seats only are available.
