Gary Usher and the Elite Bistro Group have successfully hit their crowdfunding target of £200k to reopen the White Horse pub in Churton.

The group, who also own Kala in the city centre and Hispi in Didsbury, now hopes to open the pub in early 2023, with regeneration work already underway on the building.

Speaking about the opening, Gary Usher said: “Pubs are such a huge part of British history & culture & it’s such a bloody shame to see so many go of recent years.”

Elite Bistro had originally launched an equity crowdfunding campaign to raise £750k for the White Horse plus other projects, however, Gary took to social media to announce the campaign was cancelled and apologise to investors.

Instead the group launched their 7th Kickstarter campaign on Mon 1 Nov with an aim of £200k which would be solely focused on opening the pub. The crowdfunding campaign passed £100k within an hour, and hit its full target of £200k in just 24 hours.

Keep an eye on The White Horse Instagram for updates on the project.
