Performing as part of his debut album tour, Hae Ke Kae (Where is Home), virtuosic South African cellist Abel Selaocoe returns to his alma mater with the Bantu Ensemble at the RNCM on Fri 18 Nov.
Combining masterful performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion, Selaocoe glides frictionlessly between a range of genres and styles, delivering concertos and solo performances alongside collaborations with world musicians and even beatboxers. Dedicated to expanding the horizons of classical music in order to captivate a more diverse audience, Selaocoe composes works and develops programmes which reveal the osmotic links between Western and non-Western musical forms and traditions.
