With the festive period firmly upon us, we’ve got a few brand-new spots for you to add to your list as you venture into your big Christmas night out. From cosy Meditteranean cocktail bars in the suburbs to elegant rooftop dining in the city centre. Here’s what’s new…
Since opening their Tib Street spot what now feels like a long, long time ago, The Butcher’s Quarter have become a firm favourite for anyone after premium produce in the city.
Their latest concept sees them team up with Manchester Craft & Design Centre for Butcher’s Quarter Bitesize.
The scaled-back take on the team’s usual operation will see them serving up things like hot roast sandwiches, breakfasts, artisan coffee, quality wines, cheese and charcuterie, all in the spectacularly unique setting of the Craft & Design Centre.
A brand new cafe has opened up on the third floor of the iconic Afflecks building.
Third Floor Rising offers an all-day menu of British classics from breakfast right through to closing time.
Visitors can tuck into breakfast specialities including meat, vegetarian and vegan fry-ups and breakfast rolls, BLT, teas, coffees and everything required to get your day moving.
There’s also a solid list of owner Tommy’s homemade pies, paninis, toasties and filled rolls as well as owner Sarah’s home made tray bakes and cakes.
While not strictly ‘new’, Acai and the Tribe have completed their move from the Arndale Market over to Deansgate Mews, bringing their beautiful vegan and GF-friendly Acai Bowls to the old Butcher’s Quarter site.
Along with their signature traditional Brazilian desserts, visitors can pick from an array of healthy options including smoothies, homemade granola and grilled chicken sandwiches.

A brand-new 100-cover rooftop restaurant has arrived at Blackfriars House.
Climat is the latest venture from Chester’s Michelin Guide restaurant, Covino, and offers stunning panoramic views of the city in a setting described as casual dining meets ‘contemporary Parisian-style’ aesthetics.
Developed by Exec Chef of Covino and Climat, Luke Richardson and Head Chef, Simon Ulph, the menu approaches modern British cuisine with influences from all over the world, using the best produce available to create ‘food you want to eat’, or what Exec Chef Luke Richardson would describe as “Parisian expat food”. There’s also a staggering wine list that boasts more than 250 varieties, if you’re into that kind of thing.

In what is one of the year’s most exciting openings, MUSU has taken over the former Randall & Aubin site on Bridge Street.
Translated as ‘infinite possibilities’, the new concept offers guests three ‘multi-sensory’ dining options to choose from — an a la carte ‘sentaku’ menu, a seven and 11-course kaiseki menu and a theatric omakase menu, which will be served over a six-seater omakase counter.
Renowned chef-patron Michael Shaw heads things up, bringing a mightily impressive CV that boasts time at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Richard Neat’s Cannes restaurant. Meanwhile, head sushi chef Andre Aguiar has spent time under Japanese sushi master Yugo Kato.
Taking over the former Boiler Room site on Didsbury’s Burton Road, Santé is a Mediterranean-themed cocktail and wine bar that also serves small plates and sharing platters.
There’s also a curated list of European wines and craft beers and cocktails.

Already a firm favourite in the flourishing Ancoats food and drink neighbourhood, the Jane Eyre has opened a new spot in the suburbs.
The team have arrived on Chorlton’s Beech Road, a thriving foodie area in its own right. Guests can expect the same sumptuous cocktail and wine list that we’ve grown to love over in Ancoats, which is plenty of cause for celebration.
