Since opening their canal-side wine spot on Ancoats marina, Flawd’s rave reviews have been near-enough constant, so news of them relaunching their concept restaurant, Higher Ground, as a permanent fixture is more than welcome.
The 50 cover British bistro and bar will open in the city centre next month, offering seasonal dishes shaped using locally sourced ingredients with a particular focus on organic, small-scale agriculture and small heard, whole carcass cookery.
Menus will change daily and seasonal produce will come from a variety of local farms including their own partner farm, Cinderwood Market Garden in Nantwich.
An à la carte menu will allow guests to enjoy a few dishes and a glass or two from the unsurprisingly impressive wine selection, or a sharing menu will be available at £45pp.
Guests will be able to sample dishes like the Cumberland Farmhouse Cheddar Quiche and Jane’s Acorn Reared Pig Belly with Grain and Mushroom Porridge. Vegetarian options include BBQ Leek Skewersn and Cow’s Curd and Celeriac with Spanish Blood Orange and Bay Leaf.
The restaurant will be located in Faulkner House on New York Street and will open four day a week between Wed-Sat. They’ll serve dinner only on Wednesdays and Thursdays and will be open for both lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.
