Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia 2013 at Camp and Furnace

Moon Duo, Clinic, Hookworms, Fuzz, Peaking Lights, Dead Meadow, Besnard Lakes, Night Beats, Sauna Youth, Cold Pumas. If that list of names doesn’t stir something deep within then we pity you. For those who like their music with a certain depth, a lot of texture and with an emphasis on the expansive, this is the holy grail. Indeed, psych as a genre has been breaking out of being a niche, anorak pursuit into a thriving cultural underbelly – the aforementioned Hookworm’s album-of-the-year contender ‘Pearl Mystic’ has done a lot to further that cause this year too. The line-up reflects this, with a mix of old favourites along with rising stars – we’d suggest checking out Negative Pegasus, The KVB and firm Manchester favourites Kult Country if you want to appear in the know to other festival-goers. After the roaring success of last year, there was no way that LIFP wouldn’t be returning, this time expanding over two days at Camp and Furnace (as well as its smaller room, The Blade Factory). The people masterminding the event will also be spinning tracks at Jodrell Bank to accompany the Australian Pink Floyd on 6 July to help move you off that fence if you’re unsure about it.
