A new exhibition with the unlikely inspiration of discarded shopping trolleys comes to MediaCity this May.

Supermarket Streets is a collaborative exhibition from Emma Evans and Sprechen Music’s Chris Massey that imagines a life story for a humble shopping trolley through a combination of photography and illustration.

The narrative given to these ‘chariots of consumerism’ is one of past wrongs with a rediscovery of them, which, at times cryptic and ambiguous, showcases a look at environmental issues of over-production and mass consumerism.

The exhibition will launch at Manchester Fashion Movement’s Kiosk, on Tue 25 May and will showcase Emma and Chris’ images alongside screen-painted pieces by illustrator, painter and filmmaker Katie Mason of RAG. attendees are encouraged to bring their own garments for Katie to customise on the night with an exclusive Supermarket Streets logo.

Music will be provided by Sticky Heat and Supernature resident DJs as well as complimentary tipples by Manchester Union, Boothstown Gin & Lyres Non Alcoholic Spirits. Limited prints by Evans and Massey will also be available to purchase on the night.

Launch tickets are completely free, and can be booked in advance using the button below.
