Here’s our pick of the best upcoming club nights in the rainy city this summer…

¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U / Dis Fig / Mobbs | The White Hotel | Sat 29 July | £15

One of Japan’s finest new exports is back in the UK for just the second time, hitting Manchester this Saturday with his brand of excitingly chaotic techno which has taken the scene by storm over the past couple of years. He’s joined by the enigmatic Dis Fig, whose powerful performances – both behind the decks and as a singer/producer – have lit up her hometown of Berlin and taken her across Europe and Asia.

Dickinson Street, M3 7LW
Good Custard: Young Pulse | Brickhouse Social NWS | Sat 29 Jul | £18.40

French producer and DJ, Young Pulse has taken the disco and house scene by storm of late, churning out huge edits and pumping remixes as well as high-octane sets alongside fellow Frenchman, Folamour. He hits Manchester for a day party on Brickhouse’s inimitable terrace, complete with Funktion-One sound, live percussion and disco decor.

11-13 New Wakefield St, Manchester M1 5NP
Sprechen: A Love From Outer Space | The Loft | Fri 4 Aug | £20.05

Long-standing Mancunian record label, Sprechen teams up with the Loft to bring A Love from Outer Space to town. Now a solo mission following the tragic passing of Andrew Weatherall, ALFOS is Sean Johnston’s take on slow, chuggy Balearic house – cosmic hypnotism with plenty of surprises. Support comes from Sprechen boss, Chris Massey.

Unit 1, New Street, M40 8AW
Ellen Beth Abdi + Jackie Moonbather | Soup | Fri 8 Sept | £7

Headlining Soup for a Friday night gig session is Ellen Beth Abdi, one of Manchester’s most exciting artists. Hot off the back of vocal duties for A Certain Ratio on their tour, Abdi presents her ethereal electronics and inventive loops, performing her introspective solo material with a live band. Support comes from dream-pop singer/songwriter, Jackie Moonbather, whose collaboration with Kevin Holliday made waves last year.

31-33 Spear Street, M1 1DF
Boiler Room: Overmono (Live) | Mayfield Depot | Sat 14 Oct | £25

Overmono’s consistent stream of new hits and dynamic live shows became an unstoppable force over the past few years, culminating in their flagship album, Good Lies earlier this year. Be there to see the live show immortalised for the first time on Boiler Room this October – where the Welsh duo are joined by Detroit legend, Moodymann, Joy Orbison and local selector, Tarzsa.
