A day-festival raising funds for male mental health charity Mentell comes to MediaCity on Sat 19 Aug.

Turn The Box Blue Festival brings a full day of live music, entertainment and activities, and delicious food and drink to the area, culminating with a DJ set from Mancunian legend and former drummer of The Smiths, Mike Joyce.

The morning schedule will see Story Time Corner invite children to listen to stories with a focus on mental health and wellbeing, as books such as The Worrysaurs and The Colour Monster are read aloud. Born To Be Wild Child will create a mural for children and adults to complete, and The Beaut Truck will provide face painting, glitter makeup and hair braiding in their mobile salon.

Mentell provides circles for men aged 18+ to talk in a safe and confidential space, free from advice and judgement. This groundbreaking charity originated in Stockport with just seven participants in 2017 and has since helped over 3,500 men nationwide.

Later on, live music will feature all afternoon as a variety of incredible local acts join headliner Mike Joyce, including Twisted Tubes, Remake Remodel and DJ J’Adora with Amber Jordan.

Beavertown Brewery has pledged to give away alcohol-free beer all day, and other delicious food and drink vendors are set to include A Few Scoops, Seven Bro7hers, The Tasty Greek, You Melt! and Beigel.

To help raise money for Mentell, a charity raffle will also be held with a number of prizes up for grabs.

Turn The Box Blue Festival will get underway from 10am, for more information, head over to the event page here.
