Modal gallery at Man Met Uni’s School of Digital Arts (SODA) hosts the latest work from American-Belgian artist Cécile B. Evans.

Reality or Not delves into the impact of the rebellion of emotions when they encounter ideological, physical, and technical structures. By weaving elements of storytelling, speculative fiction, and interactive technologies, Evans questions the fabrication of culture and reality.

SODA is a co-commissioner for Evans’ new film Reality or Not, which explores the production and distortion of reality.

The film follows a group of teenage girls who are asked to participate in a reality show about building their own reality.

Also featured is a former Real Housewives star turned hacker who uses a live stream to operate an anti-imperialist bling ring, a stealthy butterfly, a statue furious with its status as a symbol and a collective of rejected renders.

Reality or Not will be on display at Modal gallery from Fri 26 Jan – Sun 24 Mar. A special preview night will be taking place on Thu 25 Jan from 6pm – 8pm. You can find more information here.
