The Magnetic Fields bring 69 Love Songs anniversary shows to the Albert Hall

Iconic American outfit The Magnetic Fields will bring two special performances to Manchester’s Albert Hall this August.

Playing two back-to-back nights, the shows form part of the group’s 69 Love Songs 25th-anniversary celebrations — the famous three-disc masterwork that signalled a significant breakthrough for the band.

For the first time in over two decades, The Magnetic Fields will perform 69 Love Songs in its entirety over the two nights. The album will be played as it was originally in the early 2000s, with one-half of the record performed each night featuring multiple singers.

Written and recorded entirely by Stephin Merritt, 69 Love Songs garnered universal acclaim at its 1999 release, landing on best of year-end lists in Rolling Stone, The New York Times, SPIN, LA Times and The Washington Post, and received notable praise from Pitchfork, The Guardian, Stereogum and much more. 

The Magnetic Fields will perform at the Albert Hall on Wed 28 and Thu 29 Aug.
