On Thu 24 Oct, The Commission for New and Old Art presents VALVES, a maelstrom of sonorous fury inspired by the modest industrial mechanism with a full 25-piece brass band at The White Hotel.

One of the most ubiquitous yet unacknowledged features of our industrialised world, diligently distributing liquid and gas throughout our homes, factories and sewers, the valve quietly produces an absorbing, intricate and often uncanny soundscape.

In a gloriously unrestrained attempt to discover the nexus of engineering and expression, BRASSIVE ATTACK, the Hebden Bridge Brass Band join with concert horn soloist Ben Goldscheider and multi-disciplinary performer Sam Fairbrother to imbue traditional renditions with captivatingly radical interpretations.

Elsewhere, Ivor Novello-winning composer Oliver Vibrans unveils a brand new work for brass ensemble and vacuum tube synthesiser.
