A mixer event dedicated to creatives living, studying or working in Salford comes to Swinton Palais this October.

Whether you’re flying solo as a freelancer, part of an organisation or just finding your feet, the event promises an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people and make valuable new connections.

The evening is co-hosted by the GMCA Culture Team Creative Improvement District programme and Salford Culture Place Partnership, and is the second in a series of events happening across Salford over the next six months.

Each event invites key figures from various local organisations to join and chat about exciting opportunities and upcoming plans in an informal setting.

This month’s mixer — which will be taking place on Tue 22 Oct — welcomes Daniel Williamson, Public & Community Engagement Officer at the University of Salford, who’ll be around to talk about collaboration opportunities with scientists at the forefront of cutting-edge research.

Also joining will be Emily Smith from FreelanceHER. Emily will be sharing more about the dedicated support, funding resources and guidance that FreelanceHER can offer aspiring female and non-binary entrepreneurs.

Rebecca Swarray will be on hand to share more information and advice on the GMCA’s small grants scheme, Inspire, and, to ensure everyone gets acquainted, Wainman Design will be running a drop-in icebreaker activity.

Organisers say they’ll be using the event to learn more about what participants need to live, thrive and sustain their work as a creative in Salford, helping them to develop a network of support built around these findings.

There will be free food & drinks as well as live entertainment on the night. Entry is free, but the event is ticketed — you can book your tickets in advance using the button below.
