Acclaimed Stockport restaurant Where The Light Gets In has announced a series of special pop-up events to take place across Manchester city centre.
The restaurant, which holds a Green Michelin Star, describes the series, titled A Play in the City, as ‘a four-act programme that combines food, art, and urban living into an engaging narrative journey.’
Running from Nov – Mar, plans include concept dining, panel discussions, workshops, film screenings and exhibitions, each designed to ‘question our own contributions to urban and rural landscapes and encourage an open dialogue to reflect on the balance between city development and environmental resilience.’
Act one, known as A Man Eating a Leg of Chicken, runs from Thu 21 Nov – Sat 21 Dec at Noma’s Altogether Otherwise. Entry is free, there will be no reservations and the team will be doing a tonne of stuff ranging from wine tasting to record shop pop-ups.
Act two, The Land of Cockaigne, brings the team’s conceptual fast food iner to the Kampus bungalow from Tue 7 Jan – Sun 2 Feb. There’ll be wood-fired burgers, ice cream floats, spritzy grape juice and self-service counters.
Next up, act three is Une semaine de bonté (A WEEK OF KINDNESS). Also hosted at the Kampus bungalow, from Tue 4 Feb – Sun 2 Mar, expect panel talks, foraging and butchery workshops and a slightly more formal restaurant featuring a moderate menu of simple, considered dishes, which encourages guests to book a table with a stranger.
Finally, from Tue 4 Mar – Sun 30 Mar, Luncheon From the Boating Party invites diners to pull up a seat long table, banquet style. There’ll also be gardening workshops led by Manchester Urban Diggers.
