A special BEYOND 2024 fringe event dedicated to connecting creatives across Manchester and Salford comes to MediaCity later this month.

The Made In MediaCity: Creative Cities Mixer, taking place on the evening of Mon 25 Nov, is a free event that anyone can attend. It forms part of the wider ticketed BEYOND festival which features a programme exploring how innovation and technology can help creative cities, like Salford and Manchester, flourish.

The Creative Cities Mixer invites everyone from theatre makers and visual artists to dancers and directors to meet and mingle with top industry experts, leading R&D specialists and creatives from the BBC, Dock10, GM Business Growth Hub, University of Salford and MediaCity SMEs alongside R&D start-ups from MediaCity’s Immersive Technology Innovation Hub.

Guests don’t need to have any prior experience in the field of immersive technology, just a ‘curiosity and a sense of playfulness to spark opportunities for new connections and collaborations.’

Award-winning broadcaster, TV presenter and BEYOND MC Nihal Arthanayake will host an immersive evening of talks, provocations and pop-up performances from emerging Salford creative innovators.

The programme will include art specialists Supermassive with Tom Lambert, a chance to explore a Salford Minecraft world courtesy of local artist Adam Hart and DJ sets from acclaimed musician Pops Roberts who fronts neo-soul collective Lovescene and has written and produced for clients such as Wolf Music, International Feel, Apollo R&S, Audio Network.

There’ll also be performances from Drift underground art scene collective, bringing together local artists working in music, movement and digital art presenting multi-disciplinary mixed-genre events in a variety of platforms.

Running from 5.30pm – 9pm, the mixer will take place at Hothouse, MediaCity. Tickets are free but advanced booking is required — book your free ticket here.
